MASH KA WISEN

Be strong and accept help.

Mash-ka-wisen Treatment Center

Welcome to Mash-ka-wisen Treatment Center. Mash ka wisen is an Ojibwe phrase meaning, 'Be Strong and Accept Help'.

Our goal is to promote positive cultural identity and wellness by helping clients connect to their Anishinaabe language, teachings, and traditions for healing on a daily basis. We have two full time cultural advisors and other respected community Anishinaabe practitioners facilitating cultural services and promoting "Culture is prevention, intervention, and recovery" as well as "Family is culture". Engaging in one's culture allows answers to some of life's bigger questions as to what needs to stay the same and what needs to change. This empowerment through identity is a contributor to breaking the cycle of addiction and looking toward the future as to what clients want for themselves and their children.

Mash-ka-wisen programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation (CARF).
